Our Rich Heritage
Established in 1846 by the visionary educator Peary Charan Sarkar, Barasat Government High School has been a beacon of educational excellence for over 180 years. Originally founded as a small institution, it has grown into one of West Bengal's most prestigious educational establishments.
In 1996, on the occasion of its 150th anniversary, the school was officially renamed to "Barasat Peary Charan Sarkar Government High School" to honor its founder's immense contribution to education and social reform.
Today, our school continues to uphold the values of academic excellence, character building, and community service that were instilled by our founder over a century and a half ago.
